12" (black) / test pressing / Amphetamine Reptile / 82532 / made in USA (SRC) / 1993
The test pressing with generic Specialty Records Corporation labels came in a clear plastic inner sleeve and a plain white die-cut cardboard sleeve. The catalog number and matrix numbers are handwritten on the labels, along with "Melvins" and the date "8-6.93" which may be either June 8th or August 6th. Only one copy has been found. It was previously owned by a music promoter and DJ [1].
The master plates appear to have been cut using direct metal mastering according to "DMM" in the matrix codes, and were cut by Precision Lacquer Mastering. The records were pressed by SRC. The matrix codes reported below do not match the retail pressing completely, they are missing some scratched out parts. It may just have been an omission by the person who transcribed them.
Kurt Cobain was credited as a producer on the record, but his involvement was limited to say the least [2]. However, he played guitar on Sky Pup and percussion on Spread Eagle Beagle [2], though the latter did not make it onto the LP version because it was too long.
