7" (black) / test pressing / Sub Pop / SP97 / made in USA (Erika) / 1991
White label test pressing in white inner sleeves only. Different handwritten titles and other information can be found on most copies. The ones marked in red and blue were done by a Sub Pop employee, Hannah Parker-Pavitt [1]. She also labeled many other Sub Pop test pressings [1].
The lacquers were cut by Carol Hibbs at K Disc and processed by Lee Plating, as seen from the matrix code. Records may have been pressed by Erika Records.
Six copies have been found so far. Copy 1 was sold by Jon Poneman or Bruce Pavitt, while copy 4 was sold by another Sub Pop employee, Caryn Palmier. Copy 5 was given to the manager of The Rocket [2]. Copy 6 was sold at auction in 2025. It originally came from the collection of UK radio personality John Peel [3]. Peel wrote the track time of Candy (live) on the inner sleeve, but not for Nirvana's song. The other side of the inner sleeve is blank.
